About

Zahra Imanzadeh was born in 1990 in Iran. Fascinated with art at an early age,  She chose to move to Italy to complete her education. After earning her Bachelors of Fine Arts (B.F.A) from Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, she started a Masters of Fine Arts (M.F.A) and that was the moment in which she got obsessed with Western form of expression as a reference to modern Iranian culture.

This led her to step into the world of art and creativity while encapsulating the modern Iranian culture and the Western world, where her distinctive personal style emanates the female spirit and expresses people’s journeys and stories.

All her projects are a sort of bridge between her own culture and the Western world; She’s not looking for answers in her work or to educate people, but to expose them to a variety of questions that they might not have thought about or show them things from her own perspective that might be new and not totally fit into the Western train of thought. She sees patterns, how the ritual has been translated into modern Iranian culture, the dialogue between the subconscious of the nation and its history.

She often decorates her paintings with some traditional and symbolic Persian motifs, which are mostly inspired from Persian traditional paintings like miniature, Tazhib (Illuminated manuscript). Her artwork reflects a perception that seeks the meaning and essence of the environment through the expression of feelings and emotions, provided in warm colours and contrasts.

She intends to convey the core value of the spirit and all those feelings on the faces, eyes, colours, hues and other elements involved. She focuses on the female expression, predominantly indigenous and contemporary women in their environment and their responsibility regarding developing their own culture.
